It’s a big week when Slipknot drop a new track, your best mate gets a dog and you sprint the fastest you’ve EVER sprinted. Weather’s pretty decent if heat is your kinda thing. So hope whatever you’re up to, you’re enjoying life right now. Music is definitely in a great place to soundtrack it and pick you out of the ditches when they catch you.
Three New Tunes Not To Miss
Slipknot are back being the best metal band in the world. “Solway Firth” is out now, new album due 9th August and this video (BE WARNED THERE’S GORE!) is outstanding.
Demob Happy are slowing becoming the kings of the booty shake aren’t they? “Autoportrait” is a massive tune and one that will be in our summer playlists for weeks.
And welcoming back The Pale White to our ears after their last track “Medicine” made everyone pay attention. “Unnatural” is yet another great tune to check out.
Sum 41– Order In Decline
We’ve been being teased a few tracks this year, but it feels great to have the full body of work with us to listen to. Sum 41’s seventh album, a shift to a heavier, energy-fueled smash. You’ve got some swagger in tracks like “Heads Will Roll”, some classic savage Deryck screaming in “Eat You Alive” right through to a very thoughtful stripped back listen in “Never There”.
Top track: Still remains “Out For Blood” – the full thing from construct, to the style (hardcore punk-leaning, with a mean guitar solo WAAAAA!) actually makes me the happiest.
Disclaimer: I do know Phil, but I’m also the most fickle of listeners so if I didn’t think it was worth your time we wouldn’t be chatting about it here.
As well as being a national treasure DJ on BBC Radio 1, he is also an author of ‘Phil Taggart’s Slacker Guide To The Music Industry‘ and you may have been to a Slacker gig or two. In each episode Phil has a little hello and takes you through the artist journey of some brilliant artists with the artist themselves. He’s not genre restrained. He’s great at making artists relax and chat through everything. And all about 50-60mins long so chunkable listening. Favourites for me include Bring Me The Horizon and Novelist, but the list is very varied!
Amazing Radio – Alternative playtime has begun
And join me and my actual voice on Amazing Radio Wednesday 31st July I am back! With a Hang Out with Dead Nature (new project from Tarek Musa of Spring King), all the chats from 2000 Trees Festival, a fresh Plugged In (Track of The Week) and more!
Till next time,
