As I walk out the door with my things ready for 2000 Trees I wanted to pop a cheeky post up of things you can add to your playlists for the weekend and beyond. And maybe see some of you lovely folks on site in the field 😊
Three New Tunes Not To Miss
Although it’s been out a little while now, The Band CAMINO are still killing it with their song “Daphne Blue”.
I’m loving the new Sum 41 stuff – like seriously jamming to their stuff. It’s not happy clappy throwback 90s-fused punk, which they could have totally done. It’s beasty modern rocking tunes. With signature Deryck vocal (he’s our Rihanna right?), and a pretty decent video to get stuck into.
And lastly, some scuzzy spirit as is tradition on my blog, this week coming from Brisbane’s VOIID.
Album Review
Fangclub – Vulture Culture
This album opens at a very slow pace. The first track of over 6mins builds you up, draws you in and showcases the less aggressive side of Dublin rockers Fangclub, for whom the world is welcoming them with open arms. Their second album is wall to wall with songs that could easily be a cult anthem and others that deserve to be stadium anthems!
The title track “Vulture Culture” opens with a bass walk which is always welcome through to “Hesitations” (one of those stadium ready chorus that are super refreshing) through to tracks like “Kingdumb” that make me want to sprint as fast as I can whilst having the best time of my life.
Top track: “Viva Violent” 100% vibrant, totally vivacious, and, as expected, vociferous at all the right times, this ones’ a juicy number that I find myself coming back to time and time again. One of those tracks where you appreciate spending time with a good speaker or set of headphones to enjoy.
Audio Catch
Danny, (Brad) and I share something in common. The Bitchin’ Brew podcast host and I agree that 2000 Trees is probably one of my favourite festivals in the calendar. That aside, his podcast Bitchin’ Brew. They seem to live one of those enviable lifestyles where they record a blog, have great taste in music, can talk for hours and have a mug with their own podcast brand on. It’s worth tucking into folks…
Amazing Radio – Alternative playtime has begun
And join me and my actual voice on Amazing Radio Wednesday 17th July with a rewind of my latest broadcast. Amazing Radio HQ has paused all shows for a week whilst some logistics work themselves out. Which just means you get an extra week to tuck into loads of the best new noisy music and relisten to my Plugged In (tune of the week).
Till next time,
Elise x
