#189 The heavyweights are back in town

I’ve been saying it since the start of the year, but 2019 is quite something. Already we’ve had some incredible returns from the likes of Alexisonfire, I Prevail (see below) and Don Broco (a lovely surprise!). We’ve already had albums from Bring Me The Horizon, SWMRS, While She Sleeps (review below) and loads more. And the festival season is looking ridiculously good. Let is continue!

Three New Tunes Not To Miss

The Pale White have returned with one of their best songs ever (in my humble opinion). Although things are a little quiet on the live side of things, I can image it’ll be a busy one.

Black Futures  have been on many Ones To Watch 2019 lists after blasting into the eyes and ears of many last year with a swagger-filled bit of rock’n’roll. See what you think with their new track ft Bobby Gillespie.

And notching everything up a notch, let’s get your adrenaline pumping with the return of I Prevail. Their origen stories are not what you’d expect from a metal band, but believe me this is something pretty raucous. Doubled up with release in the same week called “Breaking Down”. How they’ve treated us 😀

Album Review

While She Sleeps – So What?

The opening track “Anti-Social” kinda sets it all up. With the eerie start with dogs barking, to the passionate delivery that Sleeps do best. The album spans from true metalcore anthems through to rockier cross-over tracks in “Good Grief”. One thing While She Sleeps fans will tell you time and time again is Loz’s ability to weave lyrics beautifully together and this album is another demonstration of that.

Top track: A tough pick as there’s a lot of killer tunes but the lyrics, the music video and the song itself = HAUNT ME

Audio Catch

You definitely get your value for money with Metal Injection; a 2-ish hour podcast that feels more like a metal culture hub than a delivery of music related to specific style of music. From cultural references to interviews with artists to discussions of new music. With an American-skew it’s a great entertainment, learning and at many points humorous filled listen.
