#173 The UK alt rock scene is bright

Brighton’s Demob Happy are going to have a busy and bustling 2018. New album is en route, they’ve reminded people of how great they are via a collection of amazing live shows in the UK and Europe. This is the latest offering “Fake Satan”.

I keep coming back to The Pale White’s self-titled EP. “Let You Down” could be a modern day interpretation of an Arctic’s song throughout the verse, but then it erupts into something far more savage. Which sounds like honey to my ears.

Need an indie folk fix? Lake Jons are perfect wonky tape x indie production.

Brighter indie noise comes from High Tyde whose high energy track “Young Offenders” have turned some heads in recent weeks.

More high energy stuff? How about Gender Roles – “Plastic” who are having great exposure with this jam.

And as a complete left turn I wanted to leave you with some thoughtful dark pop. Azusena is a new name on the scene, but this is a rather beautiful song worth delving into for a few minutes. Perfect for late night new music hunting.

Whatever you’re up to, have an incredible holiday season, and I’ll catch you back in in a few weeks.

Elise x
