And it was marvellous! The best for a long time with a fantastic mix of rock, urban, dance and all the random stuff in-between to fit into 3 days. Boy Better Know (London grime collective) were brilliant. 1000’s of hungry festival goers roaring in the crowd to every bar, to indie rockers Spring King having an amazing reception early doors on Sunday, through to Dillinger Escape Plan’s proposed last ever show at a festival. Eek!
But back to the now…Vexx popped onto my radar this week. Proper rock n roll, but packaged up into something modern and not for ‘your dad’.
Brisbane never ceases to amaze me musically. The amount of alt. talent that comes from the this city of 2.3million is unreal. DZ DEATHRAYS, Violent Soho, Last Dinosaur, Dune Rats. And not forgetting Savage Garden (who could?). But Ball Park Music have just released a smashing track last week.
Next up are Happy Diving. A new one for my ears but straight outta California with a passion for all things garage rock inspired. Highlights from the new album ‘Electric Soul Unity’ are “Holy Ground”and “Shed Light” that really bring out the grunge biscuit
One of my favourite British artists Dan Croll returned this month with the first taster of new LP material. “Swim” is a rather sultry gorgeous indie number…
Not to get confused with the other spring in my musical life – meet Big Spring. London’s hottest new 4-piece with balls…
I’d also like to encourage that you check out Highly Suspect…but they’re making it damn awkward to embed the songs I wanna share so if you have time – listen to “Bloodfeather” and “Lydia”!
