#116 Summer hols = time to chill

Whilst listening to music of course, which is the ultimate pastime.

Dugong Jr are back again with a sample summer tune “Ur Body”. It’s the ultimate Aussie tropical dance meets PC music combo.

Sticky Blood ft Hecky is a future R&B meets grime wonderpiece, with throwbacks to some house tunes I’ve heard of late too. Interesting to see where this sounds goes with the masses.

VITAMIN are straight outta Leeds and bring a refreshing indie pop sound that contrasts well with the post-grunge, hardcore classic sound of the region. Really catchy.

Hoping Brissie indie rockers Youth Allowance share some more tunes soon. If “Hang On Tight” is anything to go by!

Noise rock, chaos crew USA Nails are back with badass tunes that sounds great on both sides of the Atlantic….not just because of the name.

A band who has performed at my House Of Savages night on two occasions now, Last Heir, are taking some time off the live circuit to work on new music. Still doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy their existing post-grunge gold.

I can’t help but think of Dinosaur Pile-Up whenever I hear Meat Wave’s latest “Delusion Moon”. But this is more raw and US sounding. Still captures that spirit of great modern rock n roll mind you.

Screamy shouty Sex Bo-omb like cult riffs from PARTYBABY whose vocal is so growly Courtney Love / Chris Cornell better look out. Think FIDLAR with more ‘fuck it dog’.

I’m not a huge fangirl for The Maccabees, but their latest “Spit It Out” is reminiscent of my favourite Arcade Fire ‘The Suburbs’ era.

Adelaide electro indie outfit Atlas Genius are back with more signature tracks. They’ve gone big on the chorus bit it works without being tacky!

Angel Haze is back spitting bars over the sickest beats hip hop could ask for. I remember when everyone was comparing her to Azealia Banks, when that wasn’t really how it works. She’s cut from a different cloth and she’s here to stay.
