#113 Whilst the world looks to Glastonbury

“This is the first and last time Antonio Banderas will be on the radio”, said a DJ on this track. Well, yes. That’s true, but it’s still brilliant and perhaps these yesteryear Hollywood A-list celebs will find a new home in the hearts of indie rock acts that chose to pay homage to such memories. Forever Cult are a strong quartet from West Yorkshire (UK) who have very much impressed from the start, but this is one hell of a tune.

Tired Lion are also doing great things for grunge out in Australia and reaching far beyond. We’ve already featured these guys on the blog before  but they’re continuing with a strong and growing discography.

Gorgeous dreamy pop from AUS artists Edward R.  Having no connection, but still reminder me of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros in a small way. This is one hell of a debut track discovered thanks to my fav. source of new Australian music Triple J Unearthed

Flyte – a very hype offering of the indie scene straight out of  London have shared a very catchy little number indeed.

And leaving you with my curveball offering from Keys N Krates ft. Katy B. A very strong garage inspired DnB track that rivals that Baauer remix of Disclosure’s “You & I” for a drop.

#112 Wonderful demos

I love demos. The best versions of songs (in my opinion) are the ones that really make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. The ones where the vocals, riffs and general construction really wow. Weezer’s “Tired Of Sex” or Dinosaur Pile-Ups “My Rock n Roll”for example are stripped back sure, but incredible in demo form. Here’s another new band to unashamedly introduce to you in demo-quality: The Derevolutions

In other news FIDLAR are back! The ultimate party garage rock fun act. Making riffs that teens adore and having damn good fun sharing them with the world. A live show must. (PS – I think it’s a toss up between The Hives or the Jamaroquai piss-take as my favourite).

Short and sweet this week as I’m off to delve into the world of Download and all things rock in the UK!
