#9 Riding the indie pop wave…

Had some lovely indie records placed in my ear range this week starting off with the lovely Swiss Lips.  Electro-indie pop at it’s finest with a gorgeous video to match. If you like people flailing about in water that is.

Next up is thanks to the Music Team over at 4zzz in Brisbane. Every week for my radio show ‘Alive And Amplified’ I spin a track of choice from these guys to reflect some of the best alternative music in the Australian music scene. This week we’ve got our hands on Hungry Kids of Hungary– a four-piece from Brisbane who plan to spread the word worldwide via their second studio album ‘You’re A Shadow’ which will be released March next year.

Ian MacKaye is best know for his work with Fugazi, but pair him up with vocalist Amy Fanina and you’ve got The Evens, who have premiered the following track this week from their upcoming EP ‘The Odds’.

Now, the following band I have had the pleasure of hearing for a while now. With my work with BBC Introducing in Kent I have been hearing Hildaymay’s work for a couple of years and have watched them go from hottest record on that show, to being played on Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, to playing Hevy Festival and Reading & Leeds 2012. Big things! And this is a taste from their new album ‘Miles Away’ that gets released tomorrow.

Tomorrow night we hear the world exclusive of the next Foals single which will be played, (alongside other great music from the alternative music scene on Alive And Amplified on DIY Radio this Thursday from 10pm, but I leave you with the new video / single from Crushed Beaks who are becoming a firm favourite of mine. Very talented. Watch this space.
